Creating Your First Vault
Learn how to set up your SafeVault account and create your first encrypted vault in just a few minutes.
Getting Started with SafeVault
Setting up your first vault is quick and straightforward. Follow these steps to start securing your passwords in minutes.
Step 1: Create Your Account
Visit safevault.pro and click Get Started. Enter your email address to create your account.
Step 2: Choose Your Master Password
Your master password is the single key to your entire vault. Choose something strong and memorable:
- Use at least 12 characters
- Mix uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols
- Avoid dictionary words or personal information
- Consider using a passphrase like "correct-horse-battery-staple"
Important: SafeVault uses zero-knowledge architecture, so we never see your master password. If you forget it, we cannot recover it for you. Store your recovery kit in a safe place.
Step 3: Set Up Your Recovery Kit
After creating your master password, SafeVault generates a recovery kit. This is a one-time code that lets you regain access if you forget your master password.
- Download or print the recovery kit
- Store it in a physically secure location (e.g., a safe or locked drawer)
- Never store it digitally alongside your vault
Step 4: Install the Browser Extension
For the best experience, install the SafeVault browser extension:
- Go to your browser's extension store
- Search for "SafeVault"
- Click Install and sign in with your new account
Step 5: Add Your First Password
You can add passwords manually or import them from your browser or another password manager. Click the + button in your vault to add an entry manually, or see our guide on importing passwords.
