Importing Passwords from Other Managers
Step-by-step instructions for importing your existing passwords into SafeVault from browsers and other password managers.
Importing Your Passwords

Importing from Another Password Manager
- Export your data from your current password manager (usually as CSV or JSON)
- In SafeVault, go to Settings → Import
- Select your previous manager from the list
- Upload the exported file
- SafeVault maps the fields automatically — review and confirm
After Importing
- Review duplicates: SafeVault highlights potential duplicates for you to merge or remove
- Organize into folders: Group related passwords into folders for easy access
- Delete old exports: Securely delete any CSV/JSON export files from your computer — they contain plain-text passwords
- Run a security audit: Go to Tools → Security Audit to find weak or reused passwords
Troubleshooting
If your import fails or some entries are missing:
- Make sure the export file is in a supported format (CSV or JSON)
- Check that the file isn't corrupted or empty
- Try re-exporting from your previous manager
- Contact support if the issue persists
